With their video, NOS emphasises the need for a change in our physical activity behaviour. We, as a society, are sitting for too long. In particular the Netherlands, who NOS referred to as the European Champions of Sitting.
Even prior to COVID-19, 1 out of every 3 Dutch people sat for more than 8.5 hours per day, with students sitting for an average of 10.5 hours per day. Working from home makes us sit more, and less physically active.
As Prof. Erik Scherder emphasises: moving is essential, not only for your physical health, but also for your brain!
So, it is time for a change: stand up & keep moving
